Big Calm in a Big World
In this IWD presentation, wellbeing ninja Dr Alice MacKinnon (PhD) will introduce simple, evidence-based ways of understanding and caring for the nervous system in everyday life. We will explore how stress affects our thinking, behaviour and connection – and how small, hands-on wellbeing practices can gently rewire habitual patterns over time. Alice will share real-life stories from her book Wellbeing on a Budget: The Inner Ninja Handbook to bring these ideas to life, and offer practical hope that we can cultivate Big Calm in a Big World at any age and in any circumstance. Alice will share some easy, free practices that create Big Calm in seconds. Not only for ourselves but to help steady and emotionally co-regulate others around us – in families, classrooms, workplaces and communities. This presentation will leave young people and
adults with a sense of agency in their own lives by using simple wellbeing tools they can access freely 24/7.
