Meet the Presenters
Vicki Johnston
Vicki Johnston is a domestic violence specialist, counsellor, trainer, and representative on several local interagency and advisory groups, as well as regional and state committees.
Vicki’s work has been recognised with numerous awards, including:
- Heffron Woman of the Year
- Finalist, NSW Woman of the Year Award (2011)
- Maroubra Woman of the Year (2017)
A passionate advocate for the safety of women and children, Vicki has contributed significantly to legislative change, policy development, and professional training in Australia and internationally.
Her recent achievements include:
- Establishing a place-based community hub in South Maroubra to support vulnerable community members
- Co-creating the “We’re Better Than That” campaign, encouraging community action against domestic and family violence
- Working with Bayside Women’s Shelter to develop a new community hub for women seeking domestic violence support
Vicki has over 20 years’ experience managing domestic violence specialist services and 22 years working within the NSW state government. She is a registered counsellor and professional supervisor with the Australian Counselling Association, operates Leopard Consulting, and volunteers as an active member of Soroptimist International Randwick and Eastern Suburbs Club.
Daphne White
Daphne White is the Director of The Orange Story, an education and consultancy agency based in Geraldton, Western Australia. She specialises in domestic, family, and sexual violence education and training across regional WA and online.
Daphne’s work focuses on empowering organisations and communities to strengthen their responses to family and domestic violence. In 2021, she received the Stella Giles Award for Achievement from Soroptimist International of Western Australia, supporting the development of an online toolkit on coercive control.
With tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion and Domestic and Family Violence Practice, Daphne brings over 20 years of experience working across health and violence prevention sectors in regional and remote communities.
