About The Midwest
As a Club of Soroptimist International, we continue to strive to help girls and women in our community.
We had "Dress for Success" come up to Geralton earlier in the year, we all got together and cleaned out our wardrobes, which we gave to Peta, our Club Secretary. She went along to a day with Dress for Success, where they styled, dressed, accessorisised and advised all clients on styling and interview techniques. It was decided, as a small club, we couldn't take on the task of getting this up and running in Geralton. With that we stay in contact and wish them well in their future endeveavrous to help Women and Girls starting again.
We also have a garden dedicated to the 100 year Anniversary, which our former Treasurer donated and planted plants in some bare spots of this beautiful garden. This is located at Maitland Park in Geralton, Western Australia.
Our pivotal fundraiser this year is a raffle that will run over 3 months, with an antic bike and basket full of goodies as the first prize, more information to come on this exciting project.
What does our fund raisind do, it provides Sholarships to our local Tafe students, this often provides the funds to further the recipents education. This is provided for all women and girls studying at this institution. We always endeavor to get some feedback from the receipients, inviting them to our Coffee Catchups and our Meetings.
That does lead me to our Coffee Catchups, a casual catchup to deveop friendships, provide support and meet wonderful new Women in our community, some love the Coffee and chat, some want to just help where needed and others just come for the company. Either way it is an opening for wonderful Women in our community.
