We are very excited – our Remote ART for Remote TEACHERS raffle is now LIVE!

This is your chance to win one of three original Indigenous artworks from the Kimberley and Tiwi Islands AND support Indigenous literacy at the same time.

All proceeds will benefit the Kate Mullin Association Scholarship fund. The fund provides $5,000 per year in financial assistance to Indigenous Australian students from rural and remote communities to pursue a Bachelor of Education degree in Western Australia. The renewable scholarship supports students through their four-year university course to ease living expenses, course materials, and practicum placements. Scholarship recipients then return to work in schools in their communities. This strengthens local capacity in relation to teaching literacy, brings in teachers who will be there for the longer term, adds much-needed bilingual and bicultural abilities, and provides strong role models for Aboriginal youth. This also helps address the fundamental problem Aboriginal schools have in finding and keeping teachers.

The Kate Mullin Association was established in 2011 to continue the valuable work of the late Kate Mullin. Kate was a passionate and visionary literacy consultant who made significant and far-reaching contributions to Indigenous literacy in Western Australia.

There remains, however, an enormous gap in literacy standards between non-Indigenous and Indigenous children in Australia. The gap increases for children from remote Indigenous communities.

Please support this very worthwhile cause.

At only $5.00/ticket, we hope you will buy more than one! Follow this https://rafflelink.com/r/soroptimist-international-of-maylands-peninsula/remote-art-for-remote-teachers
