Members and visitors may have noticed that the SISEAP website was briefly offline for maintenance from Saturday midday until Sunday evening. Our IT team took this proactive step to apply a critical security patch and safeguard our digital assets.
Recently, a widespread vulnerability was identified affecting JCE, a standard text-editing component used by Joomla websites globally. This vulnerability allowed automated bots to attempt to add code to websites worldwide, including ours. In our case, the automated script simply attempted to redirect traffic to an external Amazon profile to gain affiliate credits.
While this specific exploit was minor, our team treats all security matters with the utmost seriousness. To ensure absolute security, we chose to take the website offline over the weekend to thoroughly cleanse the system, apply the official security updates, and add extra layers of security.
What this means for you:
Please be assured that because the SISEAP website does not process or store financial transactions or sensitive financial data, your personal details remain entirely secure.
However, as a matter of good security practice following any digital disruption, we encourage members to take a few quick, proactive steps to safeguard their personal accounts:
- Update Your SISEAP Password: It is recommend you take a moment to update your password. As a general rule, it is always best practice to ensure this password is unique and not reused on other platforms.
- Run a Quick Device Scan: To ensure your personal device is secure, consider running a routine scan using your computer’s built-in anti-virus or malware protection software (such as Windows Defender or Apple's built-in security tools).
The website is now fully updated, secure, and back online. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to keep our members safe.
