International Day of the Girl Child 2026 – Educated Girls, Empowered Futures

11 October 2026

This International Day of the Girl Child, we celebrate the potential, strength and aspirations of girls everywhere and recognise the transformative power of education.

Under the theme “Educated Girls, Empowered Futures,” we are reminded that education is one of the most powerful tools for creating opportunity, building confidence and empowering girls to shape their own futures.

When girls have access to quality education, they are better equipped to reach their potential, participate fully in their communities and become leaders of positive change. Investing in girls’ education creates benefits that extend beyond the individual, strengthening families, communities and societies for generations to come.

Anthea Penny, SISEAP 2026–2028 President, shares a special message for International Day of the Girl Child:

Across the South East Asia Pacific Federation, Soroptimists are committed to improving the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and opportunity. Together, we continue to advocate for girls to have the knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to build brighter and more empowered futures.
